Historic Institutional Abuse

Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottinghamshire Police are looking into allegations of child abuse in Nottingham children's homes going back to the 1950s.

Children's homes should be a place of safety, and harm of any kind is a dreadful and damaging abuse of duty and trust which is taken extremely seriously.  The Commissioner, with the Police, City and County Councils, is committed to ensuring victims and survivors get the help they need, as well as bringing perpetrators to justice and ensuring professional standards are upheld.

The City and County Adult Safeguarding Boards have produced a leaflet for Survivors called “Talking About Abuse That Happened in Childhood”.  For more information, including information on IICSA, The Truth Project and relevant downloads, please click HERE.

 The Truth Project

IICSA are coming to Nottingham week commencing 26th June for 4 weeks to undertake interviews with survivors relating to the Truth project.  For more information please see the IICSA website.
