I was delighted that more than 70 people took part in my first online chat last night (19 Feb). Thanks to everyone involved – sure we will organise another one soon.
Some interesting issues were raised by our audience of young people such as restorative justice, mobile phone theft and if we are planning to bring back the police cadets. I found your questions and feedback really interesting.
As you know, domestic abuse and violence against women is something I really want to see tackled effectively and with that in mind I visited Rape Crisis in Nottingham earlier this week. After discussions with staff at the charity I have decided to quickly sort out their funding issues, it really is a priority.
I’ve also discovered that the funding for Crimestoppers for the next financial year is still to be agreed in Nottinghamshire by the Home Office, I have arranged for questions to be asked in Parliament. I’m keen to maintain their work in the local area as they really do provide an important service, so will see whether we can prompt some action.
Thanks for reading, I will write again soon.
