My first week has, as you might expect, been rather hectic and saw me meet with many different people from the Chief Constable to Neighbourhood Watch Organisations.
I made a number of pledges during the election campaign such as recruiting more police officers, campaigning for more resources for our local Force, enhancing and improving local neighbourhood beat teams and giving extra priority and resources to cases of domestic violence and crimes against women. I am now confident I can meet these targets.
Out of all the objectives set out in my election campaign one of the most important areas that I hope to focus on is domestic violence.
In a week of many highlights, the announcement of my proposed Deputy Commissioner, Chris Cutland, stands out for me. I am sure Chris’s background and knowledge gained from Women’s Aid, and other organisations, will help me to make my goals around domestic violence become a reality.
Keep up to date with what we are doing, watch this space…
