Independent Custody Visitors

We are seeking new members who would be willing to visit the force’s custody suites to check on the conditions and welfare of those in custody.  Independent Custody Visitors make unannounced visits to the cells where, in addition to inspecting the facilities, they can ask to meet detainees before making a report on their findings.

The scheme and the visitors are totally independent and the role includes talking with those who are detained, checking the suites for cleanliness, making sure there are adequate stocks of supplies and raising any issues which may need to be addressed whilst detainees are in custody.

For more information and details on how to apply, please download the documents below:-

Closing date for completed applications is Friday 5th July 2019
Interviews will be held on Friday 12th July 2019

We are holding an recruitment drop-in session on Thursday 27th June between 3pm and 6pm at Central Police Station, Byron House, Maid Marian Way, Nottingham,  NG1 6HS.  If you are interested please do come along so that we can give you an insight into what is involved and the role you could play across Nottinghamshire's custody facilities.  If you have any questions please contact Kayt Radford (details below) and if you would like to register your interest please email Kayt (again details are below).
