Police officers have one of the toughest, most demanding jobs there is; yet it is also one of the most rewarding.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to become a police officer, Nottinghamshire Police wants to hear from you. The force is opening its recruitment process for new officers tomorrow (March 10) until Friday 24 March.
Nottinghamshire’s Chief Constable Craig Guildford said he wants the force to be an employer of choice – retaining good people and attracting new talent into the organisation.
Mr Guildford said: “I want Nottinghamshire Police to be an employer of choice – I want to retain good people and attract new talent into the organisation.
“I very much want to ensure that this aspect of our organisational and operational effectiveness is promoted in a way which sees local jobs for local people and makes us better at both what we do and how we do it.”
Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping said he wants to see more people from under-represented communities applying to join.
He said it was ‘hugely important’ that Nottinghamshire Police accurately reflects the communities it serves.
Mr Tipping said: “The issue of a lack of diversity within the Police Service is well documented and yet it is still something which needs to be addressed. Nottinghamshire Police has made real, tangible efforts and progress in recent years, reaching out to those communities which are currently under-represented within the force.
“That’s why I’m pleased to see the force renewing those efforts during this recruitment process.”
On Saturday 11 March, the force is holding an awareness event for people interested in applying to become police officers. It is being held at the ACNA centre in Hungerhill Road, St Ann’s, from 12.30pm-2.30pm.
Police officers will be on hand to speak about their role, there will be help and advice about completing the application process, along with more details about what to expect.
Mr Tipping added: “The event is open to anyone who is considering wanting to become a police officer. My hope is that we see a strong turnout that reflects the rich diversity of Nottinghamshire’s communities.”
Please also note Nottinghamshire Police are accepting transferred applications from applicants who are currently in the recruitment process for Police Constable with another Force and have achieved a minimum score of 50% at assessment centre and a minimum score of 9 at CBQ.
