Commissioner requests meeting with Home Secretary

On his first official day in office, Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, wrote to the Home Secretary Theresa May, requesting a meeting to discuss the funding situation.

The Commissioner has asked the Home Secretary for a meeting specifically discuss funding in Nottinghamshire and the implications of damping.

Paddy Tipping, said: “Nottinghamshire Police has been underfunded against the Government’s own yardstick for many years and in the current year the underfunding stands at £11.3 million. Next year it could slip to £13.5 million at a time when our Police are making unprecedented cuts. That £13.5 million, which we are due, would make all the difference.

“That’s why I have written to the Home Secretary asking for a meeting before the Police budget settlement is announced next month.”
