Commissioner asks neighbours to help deter crime at Christmas

With criminals heedless of goodwill at Christmas, Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping is calling for neighbourly watchfulness in Nottinghamshire over the festive period.

“If everyone keeps an eye out for everyone else, particularly in rural areas, hopefully there will be fewer crimes committed and fewer victims picking up the ruined pieces of what should be a happy time,” he said.

“By looking after each other – as in the true spirit of Christmas – we can help deter criminals from burgling homes and churches, committing metal and heating fuel theft and blighting lives through other types of thievery.

“Nottinghamshire Police are committed to driving down crime at all times of the year, and will not let up their crusade to keep people across the county safe from wrong-doers.”
