Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping is due to attend the Flowers for Peace event in Nottingham City Centre on Saturday (8 June).
The KQZ Institute team of young Muslims, together with volunteers, will be handing out 1,000 roses to members of the public from 12 noon until 4pm in various parts of the city centre and around the Old Market Square. The event will start outside The Council House.
They have organised the event in response to the death of the soldier in Woolwich last month – and to show that young Muslims in Nottingham strongly condemn his murder.
Mr Tipping and Kevin Dennis, Chief Executive of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, plan to join them at 3.30pm.
