Rural Setting for Police Scrutiny Meeting

Paddy Tipping, Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire, will host a Strategic Resources and Performance Meeting with a rural feel on Wednesday 20 November, marking his commitment to tackling rural crime.

The meeting will be held at Nottingham Trent University, Brackenhurst Campus, Southwell, NG25  0QF, starting at 10.30.

Prior the meeting the Commissioner, accompanied by colleagues from the Police and his own office, will have a tour of the College meeting students and seeing the facilities on offer.

Items due to be discussed include police performance, resources, an update on the work to tackle Child Sexual Exploitation and the Commissioner’s Social Responsibility Strategy and Action Plan.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.

The Commissioner said: “We try to take these meetings around the county to give people the opportunity to come along and see what we do and how decisions about policing are taken.

“I’m grateful to the University for letting us hold a meeting at Brackenhurst, enabling us to have a discussion about the problems faced by those living in rural communities.  It’s important that we find the most effective way of tackling these issues and talking to those that live and work in the countryside is a great help.

“I am really keen to include people from all corners of the county in the scrutiny of policing so that their opinions are formed on facts.  A lot has been said recently about the public’s awareness of Commissioners and this is an ideal opportunity for people to learn more about the role and local policing.”
