Young people get their voice heard with Commissioner

Paddy Tipping spends time with the Broxtowe Youth Council

Paddy Tipping spends time with Broxtowe Youth Council

Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, has been listening to Broxtowe’s young people and he intends to continue.

The Commissioner, who has been clear about the importance of including young people and their role as keepers of communities in the future, said: “I had a really valuable meeting with the Broxtowe Youth Mayor, Adam Stockwell, which was subsequently followed by a positive meeting with the youth council itself.

“The youth council is a dynamic, valuable and positive tool. During our meeting we discussed the importance of police officers visiting schools and the false impression that groups of young people on the streets sometimes cause littering and environmental crime.

“I believe it is important for young people to contribute to decisions that are made by the council that affect them.”

These meetings were just the beginning of what is planned to be an on-going dialogue, while the Commissioner will also return to walkabout the community and discuss local issues with members of the community.

The Commissioner is keen to hear your views. He can be contacted on 0115 967 0999 ex 801 2005, email nopcc@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk
