Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping has delivered a ‘picture perfect’ message on why we should all stand up to violence thanks to the artistic talents of his daughter.
Professional illustrator Naomi Tipping decided to create an illustration to help her dad convey the importance of supporting efforts to end violence in the county as part of the Nottinghamshire Police Alliance against Violence photo campaign which challenges individuals and local organisations to design a unique image which reflects their intolerance of violence. It reads: “I support the Alliance against Violence because…violence is never the right answer.”
Naomi officially presented the signed illustration to Commissioner Tipping earlier this week (see photograph). Following the campaign, the picture will be framed and hung in the Commissioner’s office.
Commissioner Tipping said: “The message behind this campaign is extremely important and I’m delighted that Naomi’s artistic skills have helped to deliver its power visually. We are all working very hard to remove violence from Nottinghamshire and it’s reassuring to know so many people are behind us and want to spread the word that violence will not be tolerated. “
The photo initiative is part of a month of action for Nottinghamshire Police’s Alliance against Violence campaign. Members of the public and organisations have been asked to contribute a photo which reveals why they support the campaign. Each message starts with: “I support the Alliance against Violence because…..” and people can use virtually any medium to get the message across including spelling out their call to action in alphabet letters, writing it on a post it note or mirror or even writing it in the sky.
To date, some 275 people have pledged their support to the Alliance’s campaign including Nottingham City Council, Nottingham County Council, Nottingham University Hospitals, Nottinghamshire County FC and Nottinghamshire Forest FC.
