Commissioner to visit Southwell Police Station in space-saving mission

Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping will next week join estate managers on a visit Southwell Police Station to discuss the future needs of the base.

The Force currently rents a police base in Southwell Town Council’s offices but require less space than the original facilities provide.

Commissioner Tipping and senior officers are in the process of discussions with the council to reduce the size of the space they occupy. The PCC will visit the base on Monday alongside Tim Wendels from Nottinghamshire Police’s estates department and PCSOs Keith Crowhurst and Richard Dunn to assess the new requirements.

Commenting ahead of the visit, Commissioner Tipping said: “Nottinghamshire Police is committed to maintaining a police base in Southwell and this visit will enable me to discuss the actual space required with those who work there and then hear about local policing issues in the town.

“The public will still be able to contact their local police officers in Southwell, I appreciate fully how important that is to them.”
