There will be no change in the way that policing is delivered in the City of Nottingham until later this summer.
Further discussions will be held between Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham City Council about how best to organise city policing.
Commissioner Paddy Tipping said today:
“The co-operation between and integration of police resources and staff and City Council employees, through project Aurora, is highlighted as best practice nationally. This relationship will be further reinforced when Central police station closes after Easter and relocates to a new headquarters at Byron House, on the top of Maid Marion Way.
The move gives us the opportunity to discuss further the best way to organise policing in Nottingham. Until that time the frontline structure of a Divisional Commander in charge of City policing will remain.
We will all ensure that Nottingham residents are safe and secure in their homes and streets. Crime in Nottingham is presently falling faster than anywhere else in the country – we want to keep it that way!”
