Young People Set to take part in Emergency Services Weekend at Walesby Forest

Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, will join up to 80 children and young people at an Emergency Services Weekend at Walesby Forest.

The event, thought to be the only one of its kind in the UK, will take place on 18-20 October, and has been arranged to provide these intrepid 10-17 year olds with a variety of vital safety and survival skills.

Over the weekend they will experience a range of training and rescue activities including:

  • Fighting fires
  • Cutting open car doors
  • Gaining new first aid skills
  • Training to carry out a search for a missing person

Amongst a range of partners involved are Nottinghamshire Police, the CPS, Nottinghamshire Watersafe, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue, the Air Ambulance and the EMAS HEART Team.

The contact for Walesby Forest is Carl Whitehead, Centre Manager, 01623 860202.
