The Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire (PCC) is looking to appoint an exceptional Chief Constable who shares his values and his drive and determination to elevate Nottinghamshire Police to become an outstanding policing service; a Chief Constable who understands and delivers to the needs of all of Nottinghamshire’s diverse communities and builds public trust and confidence.

Applicants must have held the rank of assistant chief constable or commander or a more senior rank in a UK police force (or have held one of the designated roles if appointed from overseas).
Applicants must have successfully completed the College of Policing's Executive Leaders Programme (ELP) or successfully completed the Senior Police National Assessment Centre (Senior PNAC) and the Strategic Command Course prior to 2023.
The successful candidate will be re-vetted as part of the appointment process in accordance with the Vetting Code of Practice and the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) on Vetting. The appointment is subject to security clearance at Management Vetting (MV) and Development Vetting (DV) level. These levels of clearance must remain valid throughout the duration of the appointment
Applicants must also consent to a review of their disciplinary record as part of the appointment process.
The Process
The PCC and his Office (the OPCC) are committed to a process underpinned by the principles of merit, fairness and openness and no candidate should be unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged as part of the process.

Candidates will need to be available for a 2-day selection process on 11 and 12 December 2025, and the successful candidate will be required to attend a Police and Crime Panel confirmation hearing, expected in early February 2026 (dependent on vetting timescales).
